"JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So we're going to go ahead and throw the hi-hat back in there. We've got all these upbeats hanging out, an upbeat on every beat, and then also the downbeat on one. Okay? So you're going to have some stuff lining up, all your upbeats with the hi-hat. You're doing those eighth notes. So all those upbeats are going to line up with the kick drum, and then you're going to have a singsong effect between the kick drum and the snare drum, which is just a beautiful thing. So I'm at 70 bpm, and I want you to take a look, take a listen. You'll hear what I mean. All right? You can hear it going back and forth. Let's go ahead and play it together. I'll count you off. One, two, ready, play. All right? So there you go: the whole slew of upbeats plus that downbeat on beat one."
