"JOEL SIEGEL: Okay, so we're going to do something similar to what we just did. That was one-&, and then the upbeat of three and the upbeat of four. Now, what we're going to do is we're going to play the one-&, and then we're going to do the upbeat of two and the upbeat of four, all right? This is what it sounds like with the kick and the snare. All right? You hear that difference? We're leaving out that beat three, the downbeat, really giving it a different feel than that kind of standard rock beat that we've been doing. So this next clip, we'll throw in the hi-hat and we'll talk about where things are lining up, and we'll play it together."
