"JOEL SIEGEL: Alright, so we're slowing that beat down. This is just the same beat but slower so you can kinda see what's going on with the--it's mainly the kick that's doing like, all the work, all the variations. Check that out. Okay. So, what's going on in the first two beats, not a lot actually. You have one-and; so you have a couple of eighth notes and the high hat or the high hat's--the right hand is doing the eighth notes the whole way through. I'm doing a closed high hat just so you can hear what's going on. It's--for the beat, it's open and then you have the kick on beat one, so that's it. The beat two, you have your snare and your basic backbeat. Snare on two and then high hat on beats two-and, okay? So, that's the first two beats, okay? We'll take a look at the other two beats in the bar in this next clip."
