"JOEL SIEGEL: So, with the rim click, you actually have quite a plethora of sounds at your fingertips. Just moving the sticks slightly can evoke a starkly different sound. So, I want you to listen to the difference between the position that I had the stick in and the sound that it made the first time versus when I move the stick, just slightly move the bead slightly towards the center of the drum. You can hear that the pitch is a lot lower and as you play around, this is one of your most sensitive strokes. You can get that first sound, you get that deeper sound, you get deeper still and you can get higher and you can get almost puny. This is one of the best areas to just play around with and every song, every chorus or verse that you play, you're going to find that within your first two or three rim clicks you're going to find that sweet spot where it sounds exactly like you want it to for that part of the music."
