"JOEL SIEGEL: All right, so just like any other tool that you're using, your stick or your hot rod, you can do those rim taps with the brushes as well. And again, since you have the different parts of the brush, you can get those different sounds. And just like before, feel free to use the rim of the snare, the rim of the bass drum, toms, etcetera. You'll also notice that you're going to get what might even sound like a snare sound because you have the same action which is the multiple wire striking a surface. So here's what your rim taps sounds like on the snare rim. Here's the bass drum. You can also go with the rubber shaft against the rim. It will sound like this. And against a bass drum. Just like with the bottom of the rods, don't forget that when you're playing with these soft tools, you can still find a way to get those loud notes every once and awhile when you need them."
