"JOEL SIEGEL: We'll talk about the American grip on the hi-hat. This principle is carryover to the hi-hat but you're going to notice again the reaction, the way it feels in the stick is going to be a bit different when you're hitting the cymbal versus hitting a drum. So, here's your up, down and full stroke of the American grip. We'll talk about the German grip real quick. Same principle, it's a bit harsher, it's more attack oriented. And you have your up, full and down stroke as well."
