" Hi! I’m John Antonelli on behalf of Expert Village. This video lesson is going to be about how to construct an exercise I call triplet bucks. It’s going to be basically the same type of exercise as the previous exercise, only we’re adding a stroke. The meter of this exercise is 12-8. There are going to be four sets of three eighth notes in each beat. The accents, again, will be at 12 inches and the taps will be at 3 inches. The exercise will sound something like this. That is the exercise. The pitfalls will be exactly the same thing, timing and heights. An extra problem is presented in this exercise, and it’s the middle stroke. We want to make sure that the 12 cushioned 3 play it 3 and then we still have enough velocity for those 2 consistent 3s, so that it does not make a decrescendo. We want to make sure that those 2 strokes in the middle are the same height and the same sound consistently every single time. Those are the major pitfalls of triplet bucks. Please check out our next video where we will be discussing the construction of an exercise I call 12_3 bucks."
