"Hi my name is John Armstrong. I'm a professional guitar instructor and today we are going to be discussing beginning classical guitar. The next thing I like to discuss with you today would be ties. A tie is a curve line between two notes of the same pinch. The first note is played and held for the time duration of both. The 2nd note is not played but held. In this next exercise I have some examples of some ties you would notice in the 4th full measure the last note in that measure the G note is tied into the 1st beat of the 5th measure. So that G note is played 3,1,2,3,1,2,3,1. Also in this exercise there is more 8th notes to be used and we have some pick up notes. Notice that it says 3,4 times in the beginning of the selection which we have 2 8th notes. Counting backwards and 3 so it is going to come in on 3 and be played on 3 and of 3. Okay here we go 1,2,3 and 1,2,3,1,2,1 and 3,3,1,2,3,1,2,3, 1,2,3,1,2, and 3, and 1,2,3,1,2 and 3,1,2,3,1,2,3, and 1,2,3, and 1,2,3. 1,2,3."
