"I’m a professional guitar instructor and today we’ll be discussing advanced jazz guitar. Okay next let’s discuss the D-minor 9 just some variations on the D-minor 9 or just the minor 9 in general I’m just saying D but it doesn’t really matter. The minor 9th is played by lowering the 3rd and the 7th just like a minor 7 chord, basically it’s a minor 7 chord with a 9th note on it so I’m going to have here is a root, take my 3rd and flat it, here’s my flatted 7th, my 9th and my 5th it’s a little bit of a stretch there with your index finger but it’s important to practice the chord until all the chord tones ring out nice and neat. Make sure when you’re learning new chords you always do…an arpeggio based on the chord, make sure you’re getting good clean sounding chord tones, a little variation on that we could sharp the 5…that’s about the only variation you usually see on that one."
