"Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com. I am a professional guitar instructor and today we will be discussing slide guitar and slide guitar techniques. Okay The next thing I would like to discuss is the Vibrato technique playing slide. Now Vibrato even when done with the fingers is simply bending and releasing a small series of bends and releases on the guitar, which is just you know raising and lowering the pitch, raising and lowering the pitch at whatever speed you want your Vibrato to be. Well on the slide we are still raising and lowering the pitch but how we are doing that is by moving the slide back and forth across the fret wire above it and below it. So let’s say for example when using my favorite note here the D note on the slide and watch as I shake the slide back and forth above the string allowing for Vibrato or wavering in the actual tone itself. That Vibrato I can do that with much more intense rate or much slower and a softer sound or I could hold the note for a while and let it taper off using a Vibrato."
