"JOE WILES: Hey, this is Joe Wiles with the Rock and Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village. Let's take a look at Kiss' "Detroit Rock City." We're going to start with out ring finger on the 3rd fret of the A-string as well as our index finger on the 1st fret of the same string, the A-string. We're going to go back and forth between these two, just like that, okay? This little riff ends with a quick picking on the 3rd fret of that A-string. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, okay? That riff, so far, sounds like this. We're going to hit our open E-string and then we're going to hit a power chord in the 4th fret of that low E-string, which is 4-6-6; index, ring, and pinkie. We're going to hit this power chord again and slide it up two frets. Just like that, the power chord we're ending on, the frets are the 6th fret of the low E-string with your index finger, the 8th fret of the A-string with your ring finger, and the 8th fret of the D-string with your pinkie. And then we're going to return back to the beginning. Slowly, that riff sounds like this--and so forth. To speed, it just sounds like this. It's a simple song and there's not much to it as long as you know a couple of power chords. In our next segment, we're going to talk about Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reapers." So get our cowbells out and join me there."
