"JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So the third area of the cymbal, you have is the dome or bell of the cymbal. This is more of a high-piercing sound. It's got a lot of beats to it depending on how you strike it. This is--a lot of times, you'll apply it in a lot of rock music. You'll also find it in Latin and other types of music, as well. So the stroke approach is going to be the same. I'll just briefly go over the combinations we have. Here's your French grip, doing up, down and full. Here's your American grip. Finally, your German grip. Depending on the part of the music that you're going for, you'll find often that the German down stroke is going to be the stroke if you're going for that driving sound."
