"JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So we've done some quarter notes; let's move on to eighth notes. We'll stick at the same tempo and actually my metronome. Since it's a little nicer, it will give us some eighth notes. So here are our quarter notes from before: one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. I'll add some eighth notes in there. You can hear the difference. It's literally twice as fast. The way that you going to count this is one and two, and three and four; and one and two and three and four; and one and two and three and four end. Eighth notes are in pop and rock music, funk, soul. These are going to be almost your most played notes. If you're right-handed, you're going to be doing a lot of eighth notes with your right hand, and the same thing goes with your left hand if you're left-handed. This makes up kind of the core of timekeeping in pop music, and I'll show you what I mean."
