"JOEL SEIGEL: All right, the next thing we're going to do is move the hi-hat lift to the upbeat of three. Okay? So, what's happening here, we're going to think of being--about the way that things are lining up. You have--you have your--your lift is going to be on the upbeat of three, so what does that mean? The striking of the hi-hat with your left foot, that's going to be on beat four, okay? So, what else is playing on four? You have your hi-hat. You've been playing your 8th notes the whole time with your right hand. You have also the snare, okay? That's your backbeat. That's two and four, okay? So, your left foot, your left hand and your right hand are all going to be playing the same. Again, conceptually, this--you might already know which where--where this is going to line up with, like mechanically. What's--what the--kind of the analog is to the upbeat of--to upbeat of three, okay? Try and project what that's going to be. We'll get there in a second. So, I'll show you what the beat's like and then we'll play it together."
