So, we're going to do one other fill in this tune "Give it Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is something that Chad Smith is doing. It's into the first chorus going into the second verse. It's a cool fill because it's not just utilizing the snare drum and the toms, actually he doesn't use the toms at all. It's the snare and the kick which is just a really cool, like the kick is a really cool element that you can use for fills and just get a real dynamic sound. To me it says a lot. I just like the way it sounds and everything like that. I'll go ahead and play it for you real quick; I'll play the beat with the fill at the end. This is how it sounds. (demo) It's a really cool fill; it goes back and forth like the Bass drum and the snare drum are talking. The high hat's still going so it's kind of the beat at the same time. It's a nice, melting, middle ground. It's like in between a beat and a fill. So, we'll break it down and see exactly what's going on in this next clip.
