Right Hand Harp Harmonics for Beginners

"Hi! My name is Jesse Sparhawk on behalf of Expert Village. I can be reached at www.myspace.com/jessesparhaw. We’ll be covering the right hand harmonic in this segment. Harmonics are in everything in music, but in this case, it is a specific harmonic of string. In a prior segment, I had mentioned that when we have middle C, this red string here and the next C and octave above, that you literally have the same note C. But in this case, this C is half the length of this C here. There is just one technique that you can use to play harmonic of this C to get this C note an octave above from the string. That involves making a contact point with this C somewhere in the middle with the first finger behind the first knuckle. It might take a few times to get into practice. There is the harmonic C, when you place your first finger on middle C in somewhere in the general vicinity of halfway, which is something you have to visualize and place your thumb just above it, and make sure that you get both the thumb and the first finger to leave the string at the same time. It takes some practice, but as you can hear, you are literally reaching the same C note as the octave above and it is just really for a beautiful effect. "
