" Hi! My name is Jesus Cardoso, and I’m going to teach you a very standard technique on how to thicken vocals. Sometimes when you record, especially in the digital realm, you have the problem that the vocals sound kind of thin in comparison to the mix. One good way to actually thickening it and really lifting it a to add more presence and really making it stand from the mix, is to use a good quality compressor. This over here is a good tube compressing device. Every time that I need to have that effect of thickening that voice, what I do is I pass it through there and just add as much compression as I can without having that effect of vacuuming. Always try to put as much compression without the effect sounding. As much compression and being natural. That’s basically the secret. Just throw it back into the mix and it’ll shine as new."
