"Hi! My name is Jesus Cardoso, and I’m going to explain to you how is it that you can get the best takes out of your performer. First, you need to develop this sense of trust with whoever he is or she is. If you can actually develop a friendship with your performer before you go to the studio you’ll be much better. Sometimes it just takes a drink or two in a local bar, and that’ll set the whole mood to be able to record and him/her to feel comfortable at the studio. Once you get this barrier of trust crossed over, then you’ll be able to get some of the takes, and once everything starts, you always need to focus on keeping the flow. The flow is the most important thing, to have flow and to have fun through the recording. Music, many would say it’s all about the fun. If you do not have fun while you’re doing this, if you get stressed, it will actually print right on the tape. If you are upset or angry or maybe you’ve just had a good or bad day, it will also transmit everything into the recording. It’s very important that as a performer and as a producer, both are comfortable, happy, and creating art in the best way possible and having fun with it. "
