Production Process for Home Recording

"Hi! My name is Jesus Cardoso, and I’m going to explain to you how to do a recording session, phase also known as production. Once everyone has been perfectly rehearsed during the preproduction, you have everyone sited at the recording studio. Once people get in, it’s very important to have everything setup correctly or try to do as much work before the recording session starts and the technical aspect. If you have to set any microphones, make sure to do that before the session starts. Once people get in, it’s very important that everyone’s in tune, everyone is at the right level, and everyone’s using the right microphone. Always take as much time needed to use the correct microphone. In microphones like these that are meant to record vocals, you can use as many as 10 different microphones and ask very kindly and patiently for your vocalist to take care and patience and to try each and everyone, because there’s going to be just one that is going to suit his voice perfectly. Once you have all that set, which is a technical aspect, it’s very important that you get the right take. The right take is having the correct moment, sometimes in the right momentum of the performance of the artist. This is a very sensitive thing, especially speaking with vocals. The vocal is one instrument that always varies and is always sensitive to the environment, very sensitive to…I don’t know, maybe the mood of the singer. It’s very important to get the best takes. Not only tuning wise, but as well as emotion wise of each and everyone of your artists. Remember, that at the end, every track that you pile up in your session will represent the overall emotion of your piece and the poetry with it. "
