"Hi! My name is Jim Goettler here with Expert Village and this is a video about how to produce a small community festival. This segment I want to cover briefly what I call programming. Programming is what your festival is going to look like. Basically it is the fun part, finally after we've got through all of the permits and the insurance and all the nitty gritt regulations. Programming is designing your festival where your food booths might be, where your craft area might be, where your kids area might be. I strongly suggest that whatever kind of space you are using be a park, be a school cafeteria, be at a closed street, you map out where you want everything to be. Get a big old piece of paper and sketch out where you would like to see booths, where you would like to see the stage, where you would like to see your toilets and so on because this will give your event the form necessary for the city or county to look at as well as for ultimately your guests that are coming to the festival and vendors perhaps. Everyone sees a picture and also it will help you see each part of the festival flows in each part and makes for a wonderful time to be had by all. The next segment I am going to cover a little bit about vending and hope you stay with me. "
