"Hi! My name is Jim Goettler with Expert Village and this is a a video about how to produce a small community festival. One of the two most daunting parts of the entire process are insurance and getting the permit. The last segment we talked about was a little bit about the permit acquisition. Insurance is something that makes people's hair stand on end and it need not. You may be asked to acquire what is called mass gather insurance and it may be for a huge amount of money of $5,000,000. Don't be terrified. There are companies around the country that supply this insurance. You may be looking at a $100 to $200 premium as long as all of the basic criteria is met that your health safety plan will get to in a little while and it is public event and family event but you may have to do it. There are purveyors and insurance companies that handle mass gather insurance around the country. I would be happy to put you in touch with any number of them. I am reachable at jim@riseup.net and I can generally help people around the country if this is a problem. So the insurance requirement is going to be daunting at first. They may ask you to carry it. We will get into later when we talk about vending and so on other types of insurance that vendors carry. If you are the organizer may need to carry the insurance. If you are a non-profit organization or current arts commission, there may be ways around that require it but it is something to figure in your budget that you may have to cover. Just stay with it, you will be fine. Just stay with it. "
