" Hi this is Jim Luke and now we’re going to talk a little bit about ear training. Once you get past learning melodies and learning to play licks then you are going to want to start either playing along with other musicians or with CD’s or albums. One of the best ways to practice is to play along, as long as you are hopefully in tune, with a CD or an album of music you really like to play along with. That can be blues, jazz, country whatever. But you want to usually start out with slow songs which I’m not going to do but that is what I would advise you. I’m going to show off a little bit and this is an up tempo kind of jazz tune but it is still remember only 1, 4, 5. In other words it is still just basic blues changes. So this is the kind of thing you want to hopefully be able to get to do by playing along with the favorite records you have or even like this one which happens to be a play along record. Do a melody.
