" Hello! My name is Jim Sivard on behalf of expertvillage.com, I’d like to talk to you about the posture and the holding position of the bass clarinet. Now, unlike a saxophone, the bass clarinet in the middle between your legs. The reason being, that you do not want to interfere with function of these lower keys here by touching it with your thigh, for instance. Sitting or standing, you want to have it between your legs. You want the mouth to piece to meet you at your lower lip, not at your chin or up above so you can adjust your chain or your neck strap to the proper level; it’s very important to do that. If you’re going to stand, the position of the clarinet stays relatively the same. That was a little bit about posture and holding the bass clarinet. "
