The Special Peel Away Fan Magic Card Trick

"I’m Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com and today we’re going to learn about fans and spreads. This here is known as the peel away fan and it’ll look like this...remember the reverse fan I said that this portion doesn’t show the cards when a peel away fan it actually reveals the cards. Doing it slow it’s kind of weird I’ll just do it in full motion so you can really see what’s happening, it kind of like brings all the numbers in the view and to do that you just do your normal reverse thumb fan, you don’t release as many cards as you normally would, you hold the whole block of cards back because you’re going to do a regular thumb fan behind it like that and it’ll shrink down behind for the regular thumb fan so you actually have two fans, ones reversed, ones classically thumb spread and these fingers here are going to pull back the first one and reveal the cards behind them. So essentially you’re going to do a reverse holding back a lot of cards it doesn’t matter how many cards are here they can’t really see the numbers anyway and then you can do a fan behind it so when you close it the cards are essentially you do two fans like I said and when it closes up underneath, the way to draw back the cards these fingers release and start to push in the corner and bring that in to the hand. There isn’t really anymore I can about it except for you want to make sure the pressure is on the side with your ring finger as you bring it up and close it into that, that actually reveals your classic fan behind it that you’re doing. So that’s called the peel away fan it’s really nice when you actually have a fanning deck that has multiple designs when you do that, you probably only want to use this fan for those situations where you’re in a competition and you have a different color design changing and doing it fast so it’ll actually look kind of magical, it’s called peel away fan."
