"I’m Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com and today we’re going to learn about fans and spreads. This is then a double decker fan, it requires two decks of cards, it’ll basically fan out like so and hold it there and it’s 104 cards. This is something that requires a lot of practice, amateur card fanners won’t take the time to learn it, if they do take the time to learn it they’ll only use 26 on 26 which is half of a deck on half and when they fan it out you’ll have this type of affect which is fine but as far as amateur vs. expert this still says I’m a amateur of card fanner. The thing that makes it expert sort of say is that two decks of cards is 104 cards you’re talking about 52 on top of 52, there’s a lot of problems you can run into for one it thickens the deck when you butt them together and butting them together is even a hard thing to do sometimes and to do it slow and explain it it’s probably going to be a little rocky so bare with me. But what you want to do to butt them together is a furrow shuffle, a furrow shuffle is easy to do with half of a deck but to do with a full deck it becomes kind of difficult you just want to butt the corners together, it creates pressure and pushes them into one another and that’s 52 on top of 52 and then to fan it when you bring up the fan it creates this type of thing and they’re going to want to fall out from the sides, if you put too much pressure on the bottom it’ll squeeze out from the top, if you make the fan too large without the proper pressure you’ll have cards that’ll fall out on the edges and they’ll fall down as you can see happening there. This takes a lot of finger coordination and as well strength to actually hold the deck so that it’s actually going to fan all the cards and keep them even and believe it not it’s actually harder than it looks, so go ahead and give it a shot and remember you’re not going to be an expert unless you can do it with two decks of cards."
