"I’m Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com and today we’re going to learn about fans and spreads. This is known as the one handed reverse fan, it’s an incredibly hard fan to do a lot harder to do than when you’re actually doing the thumb fan with two hands. The reverse fan with one hand is kind of like in progress as you’re going along, you’ll hold the deck kind of in a dealing position as if you’re going to deal out cards and as you come up your fingers are going to come away, your first finger and thumb will stay at the corner as these three fingers in the back start to push these cards out, your first finger and thumb will stay exactly where they’re at the entire time and your fingers kind of feed the cards out and up and over the top and to do it fast to one motion is what ideal you want it to look like. Doing it slow to explain it you can kind of see that it’s a couple of baby steps of the fingers in the back and then push with the first finger, so it’ll look like this…normally again your thumb stays exactly where it’s at and your first finger will stay there until it gets to the very portion where you actually have to use it to pull down to get a larger fan. It’s actually hard to do, it takes practice but once you get it it’ll look really nice if you can just snap one out and say go ahead and select a card and then shut the fan after they select one, it’s something you want to take the time to fan up to it’s something you want to take the time to learn, the reverse fan is something that is difficult to do, the one handed reverse fan will definitely set you apart from the rest of the magicians that are out there."
