"I’m Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com and today we’re going to learn about fans and spreads. Another fan that isn’t as common but if you are wanting to be an expert at fanning you’ll need to learn is the reverse fan, it’s basically the same exact thing as the classic fan but only in reverse. There’s some good points and bad points to it, the bad point is you can’t see the actual numbers cause it’s a reverse of the normal fan and actually is a different handling. You’re going to use the thumb fan method with your thumb, you’re going to hold pressure at the top of the deck this time instead at the bottom with the thumb, two fingers on front they can be like that, like that it all depends on the way they fit in your hands the finesse and the actual rotation of this corner when it comes in crotch of your thumb all the way full spreaded, that’s all depending on the size of your hand. Basically for the reverse fan you want to hold it at the top and the bottom and you want to come up to the top like so and what’s happening behind is that you’re holding it, your thumb is gliding your cards along obviously it’s hard to show slow you get this choppy effect but your thumb’s literally releasing one by one at a time and pushing the remainder of the deck around to complete the circle, the half circle so it looks like that and I’ll talk about ways to get around this part of it but this is also the reverse fan. Most magicians will not take the time to learn this fan if you do learn it, it gives you extra points especially in competitions, it’s a difficult fan to learn more difficult than the classic fan pressure fan we just described."
