Hey this is Joe Wiles with Rock and Roll Conservatory. Let's take a look at Sum 41's "Fat Lip". Now the intro is a riff. It starts out on the open A string, first fret A string, third fret A string. Okay, you're going to skip a fret and go to the second fret of the G string. We're going to repeat that, but this time we're going to hit the open G string. Alternate that. In this next riff fifth fret on the D string, third fret on the B string. Do that a couple times. Slowly it sounds like this (playing). You're going to repeat that a few more times and then the verse riff kicks in. It's a power chord on the first fret of the E, first fret E string, third fret A, third fret B. Up to the B string six by six like that okay. Down here to a C power chord, third fret A string, fifth fret D string, fifth fret B string. Slide that down two frets. Repeat this riff, and then it'll be A string. One, zero, third fret on the E string and then start over. That riff slowly looks like this. All together that riff sounds like this. Practice that a few times. It's a little tricky at first, but some repetitions will get you in the hang of it. In our next segment we're going to talk about Audio Slave's "Cocheese". See ya there.
