"When you're tuning your drums, you need to be able to recognize when your drum needs tuning, and when you need to tighten, or other such things like this. For that I'm going to show you maybe what an untuned drum might sound like. After a little, a few weeks, maybe a week or two, you might, you're pounding on your drums a lot and there's just a whole of hitting and it just loosens the lugs, these, the lugs right here, and it just sounds really, just really flat and not really projecting too much, and so that can really affect how you play and also just overall sound quality. There's really no set time for when you need to tune like every week or so often. Pretty much whenever you feel like the tuning's affecting how you play, 'cause overall you have a flat head and your head, your stick doesn't bounce as well. And my drum line teacher, he came up, I was playing on my drum, and he's like, "Man, you've been playing on that for how long now?" And I'm like, "I've been playing on this for like three weeks." 'Cause he hadn't been there and he said, "Man, I would have never been able to play with that kind of tuning and that kind of sound quality coming from that drum." So it's just whenever you feel and just a lot of different people have different kind of ears for things. You just got to incorporate what you want and what you feel that your drum should be tuned."
