"There's really no rules when it comes to abstract photographs. It's kind of like abstract painting; you can do whatever you want. I tend to look at a lot of reflections to find some abstract things going on. One example, I was just walking across a parking lot and I saw this puddle and when I got up close on it, you can catch a little bit of the light reflecting, and you catch the fact that these objects are in just a little bit of water. It kind of creates a mysterious feel. So again, there are no rules when it comes to the abstract. Get out there, experiment, try and make a picture that people won't even know what it is and then you'll know that's definitely abstract. And you know, there's no rule that says someone has to look at a picture and have it be really literal. You can think of the lights and the objects like your paint and you can splash them around the image however you want. And you know, if there's interesting composition, it doesn't always matter if people can make out what it is. So, again, I encourage you to experiment a little bit. Try and get abstract and get some creative images that maybe people haven't seen before. And you know, maybe cause people to look twice at your image and say, "hey that looks cool; hey what is that? Either way, abstract images there's no rules, get out there and shoot them. It should be fun."
