"When you're taking a photograph, a creative angle can really help set your image a part from many others. One example of this is a photograph I took of a pier on Carolina Beach. I've seen a lot of pictures of this pier. More often than not, they're way up close on the pier. I wanted to find a little something different so I found this pattern being created from the shadows off of this fence. And I stood behind the fence and tried to use the fence as kind of like a gateway to the pier. So, my intention was that the interesting design from the fence and the shadow would lead the eye across the image and then take it to the pier. So, it's kind of like a less obvious picture of a pier. Again, just an example of how a creative angle can help you get a bit of a unique shot. Another example of this is, I was photographing this car at a car show, and I've seen many pictures of this car as the whole car. I wanted to get up close and personal and really show off the chrome on the front end of this car. I've had people tell me that this shot brings some personality to the car and almost makes it look like a mouth or teeth or something. The point being that there's a standard way to shoot everything and then there's infinite creative ways to shoot everything. So go out there, take your standard shots to get a feel for what your subject is and then get creative with various angles or approaches of taking a photograph."
