The most typical landscapes that many people photograph are wooded trees, water, whether it be rivers, oceans, streams, mountains and then also desert. Again, it's important to consider that these four things have been shot over and over and over again. And it's going to be a bit of a challenge to take a landscape photograph that's somewhat different than everything that is out there. It's easy to take a photograph of the ocean or of the mountains and have it mean a lot to you, the photographer, because you're actually there and you know what it means to you. You remember what it looks like. But a true landscape photograph, you want to really capture the feel of the place and enable it so that someone who's never even been there can take a look at this image and almost to have the feeling that they are there. So, again, just because the mountains, the trees, the water and the desert are the most popular landscapes to photograph, doesn't mean you can't get unique photographs of these things. Whether it's from a unique viewpoint, a unique perspective, unique patterns you find in these landscapes, or just an interesting time of day or time of year to shoot them. The point being, just because they're the most popular landscapes doesn't mean you can't create a unique image of your own. Just always remember that you, the photographer, are going to see things different than people viewing your images. So, it's important to really try to capture the essence of the place if you want to have a powerful landscape photograph.
