"Point and shoot cameras are cameras that allow you to do simply that. Point at the object you want to take a picture of and shoot the photograph. I find that these are a great place for beginners to start so that you don't have to worry about your shutter speed, your aperture, your ISO things of that nature. A point and shoot is going to allow you to really pay attention to what you're shooting and how you're composing your image and what's going on in the picture unless, what are the manual controls of everything. When I was a young kid I got my start in photography by just taking all our family photographs and we were obviously using a point and shoot camera. I bought a camera recently from my grandmother and I figured she should probably have a point and shoot camera so that she can just point and shoot and move on with her life, not have to worry about aperture and shutter speed. So again, point and shoot cameras are probably the easiest to find if you go to a major electronics distributor. I assure you about eighty percent of the cameras are probably going to be point and shoot. Some point and shoot cameras do still have some manual features but I find a point and shoot that doesn't have detachable lens, it can sometimes be a little tricky on the manual features. But again point and shoot cameras are great places to start. Automatically going to take care a lot of the features for you and if there?s someone in your life or yourself looking to just get into photography it might be a great place to start."
