"All new digital cameras come equipped with memory cards. Some will give you a small memory card, and usually that's what happens they give you a very small memory card with the camera. Something like two hundred and fifty six megabytes and these are pretty good to get you started but really I encourage if you're going to be serious about photography to upgrade to a one gigabyte or two gigabyte memory card. My camera uses what's called flash memory. Here on the side you'll see the card is stored. You can eject it by pushing this button and you'll see again mine is a compact flash card and it's one gigabyte. Now there?s many different types of memory cards every camera operated on a different one. My camera happens to use flash memory, others ones will use much smaller thinner memory cards. The important thing to remember is you want to have a good size memory card that way you don't run out of space because unlike when you're shooting with film you use your roll of film you pop in another roll of film. If you out in the field and you only have one memory card, you're done when it's full. So I encourage you to buy larger memory cards and have more than one on hand just in case anything does happen to go wrong. Again, all digital cameras are going to operate with a memory card, the most important thing is to make sure you have the right memory for that camera. The second most important thing is to make sure that you have enough space on that memory card so that you can shoot as much as you want."
