"Hi. My name is Jeff Pence with UBU Media on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, I will demonstrate how to create a new project in Digital Performer and become familiar with the interface. So, first to create a new project we go to the file menu at the top. On New, you'll see that there are a collection of templates, new templates, but we're going to use an empty one. Click on that. It'll ask you to name your file, your project. We're going to call it the Digital Performer Demo. At the top of the screen, in the far left, you'll see the transport bar. That's where most of the functions are done to start and stop the recorder, it's much like a regular tape recorder. With counter-window you can change the format. We're going to keep in bars of measure most of the time. And just underneath that is the time display, which can be in sympty or in different times, time format selection. Your tempo is right here, 120. And you have some more controls here which we will go into later on. The memory start, the memory stop, what project you're in and what sequence you're in. Consolidated windows overview, which consists of your tracks window, right here. That's where you'll be creating tracks, and an overview of all of them in not as much detail and further out. Underneath that is the sequence window, where you can edit sequences, audio and MIDI. On the left hand side we're going to have our mixer window here. And on the right hand side we have the audio performance, the audio monitor and our sound bytes window, where we're going to have lots of sound bytes eventually. Any of these windows anytime, you can pop out of the consolidating window, place them anywhere on your desktop that you like, and then pop them back in. If you ever need help in Digital Performer, just go to the top of the menu bar, under help, either the control panel or Digital Performer Help. Control panels, mostly your transport bar and Digital Performer Help in general comes up with a very easy interface, and it can usually answer your questions pretty quickly on a specific matter, so I recommend going there for most all your help needs."
