"Hi my name is Jerimae Yoder on behalf of Expert Village second thing you really want to be thinking about is managements are you going to have manager or your promoter plan this tour for you or something you guys in the band are going to divi out the responsibilities and do this yourself. Good and bad points to both for a manager to do it obviously your going to have to pay that person or that company to manage your tour to do your booking for you guys. Which could really be a good thing cause it takes a lot of weight off your shoulders but it could also be a little frustrating when things don't follow through, which sometimes happens. Things happen especially when booking where you know they just don't follow through and you get stuck in the city like Omaha, Nebraska with no place to go for 3 days, it's kind of a bummer but it happens. Be prepared of those kinds of things you'll work with a booking agent if your having a company actually put you guys out if your on the road make sure that they know what your doing. Follow up and get to know your agents and get to know your manager really well before you do any type of booking with them. The manager will basically work on all your scheduling all directions, relations, PR relations with the venues so you guys don't have to do a lot of those things you show up you play you get paid and you go to the next show. Those are really good things to do but again your going to be paying them a premium to be able to do that anywhere between 10 and sometimes 20 percent and even upwards 20% per show and even sometimes even merchandise to get you guys to do that."

on 11/20/2008 It's important for the artist to know that when using a national booking agent, in most cases the agent's commission is much higher when booking a national artist. Local and regional bands may initially want to look for a booking agent that specializes in booking locally/regionally. Avoid signing any exclusive booking deals. This will give your band more options. And keep grindin.
