"Hey! My name is Jerimae Yoder with Expert Village and I am going to be talking about where to record right now and where to record your demo tape or demo CD as most people will be recording. No one really records tapes anymore; they have gone by the wayside. Unless you really have no money and just recording onto a boom box, that is about as far as it is going to get. You and your band mates, that's cool. You can do it on tape. Otherwise do it on CD. First of all, a home studio. That is what I do when I record my demo's. I start with my home studio and you've got to choose either a software or hardware to record on. Both have their benefits, both have their negatives. I will go into that a little bit later. It is a good idea to take your time to be able to write while you are doing these things. That is what is really beneficial to a home studio. The bad part about it is there is no collaboration and basically it is either a one man band doing these things or it is just your band with their ears on it. You would also have to do everything yourself at that point and you don't have a producer or engineer to help you in those things. So you have to know the software in and out and you have to know the hardware in and out and it takes a lot of time to get something that is going to be usable in the future either for your audience again or to an A&R rep. Maybe a friend has a home studio. Maybe you could pay them a little bit or take them out for dinner and drinks or something like that. So make sure that they know what they are doing. When you get your friend kind of thinks he knows what he is doing and you get a crappy demo. It doesn't help you at all. "
