"JAMES MENY: If you've seen the old Andrew Dice Clay series he goes to a vocal coach that teaches lip bubbles. Because it does a few things, one is that the air is always coming out of our voice or out of our throat in this direction, in other words out. Very rarely do we actually phonate on an inhale so you would get this out [CHOKING] hhohhk hhohk on an inhale so we blow out to phonate. There are some vocal teachers out there in methods [PH] that actually teach you how to phone on an inhale. That's pretty advance stuff. I do that recommend it because it can cause some damage if you don't know what you're doing. So I'd only recommend that under guidance of those particular teachers. On the exhale what happens is the air hits the vocal chords, we create a false sense danger again, that pressure in our body, to create the sphincter reaction to close up."
