"JAMES MENY: Okay. Next item that comes up quite a bit is breathing. And I know that here in the United States and probably around the world, when you walk into a voice coach or voice teacher's lessons, they're going to talk a lot about what you're doing wrong with your breathing. My perspective is there's nothing wrong with your breathing. I mean, you walked in here and however old you are your breathing has managed to keep you alive this long. Now, they're going to say, "Well, breathing's different for singing than it is for regular speaking or doing your daily task." And there is a little bit of truth to that, but not a whole hell of a lot. So the question you have to ask yourself is, "How much luggage do you want to carry on with you while you try the singing or speaking career?" And if you've ever carried luggage around an airport, no matter how cool it looked in the store when you bought it, when you fill it up, it starts to become a pain when it's really heavy. So I'm a big advocate of little to no luggage if possible. So that's why I believe that when dealing with breathing, I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with your breathing. If there's a problem, I'll address it. But if there's not a problem, why bring it up?"
