"Hello my name is James Colonna from Cherry Hills Studios on behalf of Expert Village. Understanding basic technique there are 3 things you need focus on approach, rebound, and velocity, in this clip we're going to talk about rebound. Rebound helps you play faster, rebound helps you play easier you don't have to put as much effort into it and your basically letting the stick and the drum head to all the work for you. And face it people are lazy and they want the short cut and rebound is the short cut it's also very important and necessary. To demonstrate rebound basically what your going to want focus on is when you think about somebody dribbling a basketball there not taking the basketball and palming it and bringing that basketball all the way to the ground then lifting it up off of the ground. There only moving there hand for you know this much you know just a quick tap, tap and then the ball comes back to there hand, it's the same concept when it comes to a drumstick. So you kind of want to start up here and let the stick do all the work, let the drum head or the drum pad in this case bring the stick back to the starting point. And you can notice that I'm barley even holding onto the stick this is not how I would drum not even close, you can get rebound just by using 2 fingers. You can even put you know the stick between these 2 fingers and your still getting rebound I'm not even doing anything I'm just letting my hand bobble, that's it. Feel the rebound be able to use the rebound to your advantage and everything else will come into play."
