Anyone who has ever been in a band or who has at least tried to put one together knows that it is very difficult to find a good drummer. Drums are loud and mastering the drums takes a lot of time, patience and practice...which is why good drummers are hard to find. A drummer is more than just a time keeper, the drummer sets the mood of the song, holds the rhythm section together, controls dynamics, and provides an element of creativity no other instrument can provide. But to do any of that, a drummer must learn the basics...and then practice, practice, practice!
In this free video series, watch as professional percussionist teaches advanced drum lessons. Learn how to do various drumming techniques like: approach, rebound, rudimental breakdowns, diddles, paradiddles, flam and flam, herta, pud-a-duh, natural sticking, alternative sticking, polyrhythms, 3 over 2 with accents, and 4 over 3 with accents. Just like every piano player needs to practice his scales to improve, every drummer must practice his rudimental breakdowns in order to become better. So sharpen your form and become the best drummer you can be with the help of this free video from Expert Village!
"Hello my name is James Colonna from Cherry Hills Studios on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we'll be talking about advance drumming what is advanced drumming, advance drumming is advanced thinking is being able to do is put yourself outside of the box, and not think so much as this is the way that's written, this is the way it needs to be done, this is how it needs to be thought about. When your playing anything it doesn't matter whether it's a paradiddle, or a flam, I don't care everything needs to be thought of and as many different ways as possible. So if your just doing a paradiddle you can start to realize what is one hand doing. You can focus more on that and you can think about that so instead of thinking in terms of I'm playing a right paradiddle and then a left paradiddle where your actually doing as playing this and that covers both right and left, so you can focus more on your right hand. And you basically go from a 4 fill to a 2 fill this is one example of advance drumming and thinking outside of the box."
