Here's another vintage Life magazine. You'll notice they all have the same type of look. They had a window, where they featured whatever that story was of that particular week. And, you know, we have the Life magazine logo with the window. And then we have the content. And this is fabulous content, right here. This is a content of a county fair. And this particular county fair is fabulous because it's showing us what was popular in 1938. Wimpy, the hamburger guy. How cool is that? There's Mickey and Minnie. I think this is kind of a "Kilroy was here" kind of guy. These are the Katzenjammer Twins, which is a comic strip of the day. So that's very, very fun to look through that. Here we have - oh look at it! A subscription order form. See, now that's another cute little quirk in these magazines that is very collectible. So some people that collect Life magazines will really want those to be intact, and that would tend to appreciate the value. Anything in its original form just helps to promote the value. I need to mention, these Life magazines, unless they're really, really famous, probably go for fifteen, ten or fifteen dollars apiece in nice condition. You notice there's some browning on these pages. Collectors look at that, because the less browning the better, because its from time and wear and the air hitting it that it gets browned. There's another danger for magazines. Make sure they're kept out of dampness, because mildew will cause all kinds of molding on your magazines. And there's nothing worse, I've seen it so many times. Beautiful paper collectibles, and you'll find them just, just mildewed and full of all kinds of terrible molds. But, this particular magazine has some great ads, like they all do. Look at this. This ad here is, "Your car is really three cars in one". This is an old ad for a Chevy. Now, this is collectible in more than one way. It's a Life magazine, it's a Chevy ad. A lot of people collect Chevy memorabilia. Car memorabilia is huge. So someone may come in and say, "You know what? I want the Life magazine from September 26, 1938 because, right here, is my favorite, favorite Chevy ad." It says, "Your car is three in one" and then you have. It talks to you about what gas to use, another tie-in. Take a look at these gas pumps! Look how incredible they are. That's old stuff. That's wonderful. Here's Gillette. See the type of razor? It's the type of razor where you have the razor and it has a double-edged blade? You don't see that anymore. So you know that's the type of instrument that they used for shaving in those days. So it's just fascinating. Here we've got Heinz ketchup. And we're talking about some really interesting menu choices, which kind of looks a little frightening, actually. But then you see what ate at the times, what was selling at the time. What people cared about at those times. And that's pretty much what we look at, as we look through these magazines. So we'll keep our little time machine going, and see what happens in the next phase of Life.
