How to Play Jibberish to English in Improv

"JAYNE ENTWISTLE: This next game is called gibberish to English. Earlier on, we taught what gibberish was--it's a made-up language. [SOUNDS LIKE] Bisama nashtoma. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: [SOUNDS LIKE] Fravastipika. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: Gibberish is called a hook using gibberish. It's usually a hook in a game, like a gag, something to make the scene move along. It's really fun. The audiences tend to love gibberish. So in this game, gibberish to English, both actors will be speaking in English. Somebody's offstage with a bell. When they ring the bell, we have to switch to gibberish. When they ring the bell again, we have to switch back to English. They could ring the bell a lot, or very little. For the sake of this exercise, I'm going to be doing the gibberish to English and Andrew is going to tell me when I need to switch. Oh, boy, it sure is lovely here? I've never been to New York before. The buildings... ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: Ding. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: [SOUNDS LIKE] ...ikamanash namashtishto. Ashkabolka dabashka namanonoshtini. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: Ding. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: And the air isn't that bad either. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: Ding. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: [SOUNDS LIKE] Takashu momamandishto amanalubatabata. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: Ding. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: Look at that Statue of Liberty. ANDREW STUBBLEFIELD: Great. JAYNE ENTWISTLE: So that was an example of gibberish to English."
