"FREDERICK BURCHELL: Hello. My name is Frederick "Ricky B." Burchell with B4 Entertainment on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to talk about producing, manufacturing, marketing and distributing your independent CD. Now, let's talk about in-stores. Now, in-stores are a great thing to do to promote your record as well, to do your marketing. Lot of times, when people will go in the stores, they go into stores for just that, just for music. You want to go to a music store, do an in-store signing. Possibly, when people come in, they may never heard of you before but you're in the store and they're saying, "Who's this person?" And you may have posters out, you may have your CDs out, maybe doing a signing. Sometimes in-stores will let you do performances in the stores and then sometimes in-stores will let you plaster the whole store and put posters of your product around the whole stores the day you're there doing the in-stores. So it's so important, and what you want to do is call ahead of time. Call the stores ahead of time and say, "Hey, we want to do an in-store. Can we do an in-store? Here's what we want to do." The stores gonna--most of the time, they'd say, "Yes," because they're making money. They don't lose nothing by you being there and they're going to get a percentage of the CDs that you sell so just call and try to do in-stores and when you do the in-stores, make sure that you have your street team in place as well so that when people come in, if they don't even buy your product, you can at least give 'em a postcard or give 'em a poster, sign an autograph and people will getting to start hearing about you, or like they'd say, "I was at store and I've seen so and so. He was signing his CD or autograph." Then they may have [SOUNDS LIKE] came to a store to buy one artist but next time they come, they may end up buying your CDs. So do in-stores. That's a great way to market your CD."
