"FREDERICK BURCHELL: Hello, my name is Frederick "Ricky B." Burchell with B4 Entertainment on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to talk about producing, manufacturing, marketing, and distributing your independent CD. All right, now let's talk about preparing for the studio. The main thing you need to do before you even go to the studio is rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. It is so important to rehearse so many times. I work in the studio and people come in the studio and they're not prepared when it's time to record their songs and it ends up taking up so much time, so much time, so much time in the studio, and you ended up wasting a whole lot time in the recording process and they're not prepared when they get to the studio. So what I say is rehearse your songs, know the songs before you even go to the studio and record, have them written out, have them practiced. So many times people come to the studio and they're writing the song in the studio. That's good when you have a big budget but if you're producing an independent CD, you need to have it done before you even get there, take your time in getting there and knock it out. Knock the song out so you would have more time to spend on other things like mixing the song. Mixing the song is so important so when you get in there, you just want to record the songs quick and get out, and then you have more time to mixing and do other things and save money."
