"Hi! I'm Gary for Expert Village. Now we are going to start sewing with threads through the holes that we made and that is going to give us a nice strong support. The way that we measure the string is that we take the string, we leave a little bit of excess anything; that is excess is better to have it than to be caught short. So we leave a little bit of extra string and make sure that we have about enough to go 3 times the length of the book because that will give us space. Anyway we are going to be going down and then we are going to be going back up so we need at least 2 and we have like 1 more. Just to make sure for the thickness of the book we leave about a 3, a little extra. We don't want to waste any of the string but then again we want to make sure that we have enough. So I measured about 3 times up and back and then I will go ahead and cut the string. We will take the needle and I am going to thread it. Always make sure to have a nice clean cut end so that it goes in nice and easy. We don't need to tie the end to make any kind of knot. We will just leave a little bit of excess and that will give us when we are actually putting the needle through the book, it will give us a little bit of excess string so that it doesn't get lost, it doesn't fall out of the needle. It will always remain inside the needle. So we go ahead and take the book and put the needle through. You see it goes in nice and easy. That means our drill bit and the needle are a good size. Sometimes when using a very thin drill bit or a thicker needle, it doesn't always go through. Also the string can also prevent it from going through. It goes through nice and easy we and we pull it through. Then all the string goes, the shorter side falls out but that will just keep it so that we don't lose the string from the needle. We will pull it and and we'll leave a little bit of lead way. Remember we had a nice long string when we started. We measured to make sure we had enough so I am going to leave a nice amount so that I can make my knots at the end to tie the string. So now the string is on this side. I am going to turn the book over, going to put it through the second side. Again, it goes in pretty easy. If you find it a little hard to get through, just make sure the book and pages are straight so that the holes are lining up. Then we go ahead and pull it through again. Okay, try not to pull too much because then we are going to lose our excess string that we left to make our knot so make sure that we still have that there. "
