"I'm going to demonstrate eighth notes on the high hat. I'll do that for four measures then I'll add the snare drum in. After four measures I'll add the bass drum in. Remember as the drummer, timing is the most important thing, it's the most important job that you have as a drummer. So the best thing to do, every kind of drum thing that you do is to count. And myself, in a live situation or even a studio situation, I count everything that I do. So you'll actually be able to hear me counting as I'm doing this. Here we go, sixteenth, or I'm sorry. Eighth notes on the high hat adding the snare, then the bass drum. One, two, three, four. Those were eighth notes on the high hat."
