"Hi we're back at California Music Academy and this is expertvillage.com. And we are talking about how to get your children to take over those bad habits they've might have come at you with. To do things when they're not getting it. What to do when they're not getting how to do things. One of the great, great tips that you can use is having them write. I've got here just a blank stave or a blank grand staff, it’s got a treble clef and a bass clef on it and this is great for them to practice that right and left thing. But just have them fill in some notes. Have them fill in some play notes, have them fill in some whole notes, and then play them back to you. This ensures that they understand what all those things mean and what they all do and it gets them to be sort of creative. One of the things that you can do is play it for them. They will love it if you can play their work. So see if you can find some blank staff paper, manuscript paper, you can even make it if you must. But make it on a blank sheet of paper. But having the child write will help them understand what they are doing."
