"On behalf of the Expert Village, my name is Husain Abdul Alim. I'm here to tell you about carving figurines. If you like to market in events such as arts and crafts shows, galleries if we can get there. I have had opportunities to be in 2 restaurants where there are free walls. I competed down in Chandler and down in Tempe. I've had a website up and I'm anxious to get another one website up sooner than later. To have my own personal web space. But I can also market my house wares out of the Jerone artist co-op. We have a website jerone artists co-op. And I do the farmer's market, which is a new experience for me. Just to get out and do some service and be able to mix it up in the marketplace. And I have sold this summer. I sold a few pieces of wood. But mostly I like to get out on the weekends in craft shows and be amongst all the other artists, and be out there. And folks think it's important, unless I am actually out there doing this (banging pieces of wood). This is what sells my craft more than anything else, is for me to be out there doing this. Unless somebody says where do you get this stuff from. I say I make it. Most people thinks it's imported. That kind of quality a world sculpt of art, I like that. To be universal, that's the best. I think if I do what I like , and what feels good for me, because the trees are good and beneficial to mankind. I love the trees. But if I come from my heart and it's a natural feeling. And I love my customer. That's the best way for me to market my art. A lot of folks collect mass, so I am about collectors. That kind of helps because somebody might say this would make a nice present for my son. He likes to collect mass and I'm going to buy this for his birthday. That's how I get a lot of sales, because you got mass collectors. That's about it, word of mouth, birthdays, holidays, here I come. I am giving stuff away, anniversaries, you know. Just invite me, and here I come. A house warming, you got a nice gift. We find opportunities to give it away. Up in Jerone, they had a children's Christmas something or another, and they wanted pieces. I can always find little pieces to give out, for the children and chances and non-profits and that kind of thing. That's what we like to be about."
