"This piece of equipment here is called a slab roller. There's a few different types out there on the market. This is one of the kinds that has two wheels that roll against each other and pull the clay through. It also has knobs here and here that have, that turn and have increments of thickness. This arrow tells you how thick you've chosen for your slab to be. You can have it be the same all the way across, or if you're looking for a graduated slab, you can set one higher than the other. That can be helpful at times. The other type of slab roller, it's very similar to use and I'll just tell you real quick how that works. Its a basin, a rectangular basin with a stationary, I mean, a moving wheel. This wheel is stationary it stays in the center. The other type, the wheel actually rolls back and forth across the clay. And you're going to have big blanks that slide underneath and you add those up to get to the thinness that's desired. Either way, you're going to want to have your blank of clay before you roll it through the slab roller."
